The International Carbon Materials Union Standards Work Committee launches preparatory work in Beiji

On September 15th, the 2024 China International Fair for Trade in Services World Frontier Technology Conference - Standards Assist for High Quality Development of New Productivity Forum, co organized by the Beijing Advanced Materials Industry Promotion Association, was successfully held at the Beijing National Convention Center. The International Carbon Materials Union (ICMU) Standards Work Preparatory Committee held a launch ceremony.

The launching ceremony was attended by Chen Qiang, Ruan Ruxiang senior advisors of the International Carbon Materials Union, Liu Wei general secretary of the union, Ge Guanglu researcher of the Nanoscience Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Ren Lingling director of the New Materials Metrology Laboratory at the Center for Advanced Metrology Science, China Institute of Metrology Science, Zhang Lin president of the Beijing Institute of Metrology,, Wang Peng, general secretary of the Zhongguancun Testing Alliance, Wu Yongli, president of the Beijing Industrial Cooperation Association, and Gao Yongyi, secretary of the Communist Party Committee of the Beijing Capital Intellectual Property Service Industry Association.

The International Carbon Materials Union (ICMU) Standards Work Preparatory Committee aims to integrate resources from all parties to jointly promote the formulation, promotion and application of international standards in the field of carbon materials, and lay a solid foundation for the standardization and high-quality development of the advanced materials industry. Through standardization, the quality stability, performance consistency, and international synergy of the industrial chain of advanced materials will be improved, the wide application of carbon materials in various industries will be promoted, and the competitiveness and voice of the members of the International Carbon Materials Union will be enhanced.

At the meeting, Chen Qiang, senior advisor of the International Carbon Materials Union (ICMU) and an economic expert at the State Council Development Research Center, represented Mr. Fok Chun Yue, a director of the Fok Ying Tung Foundation and co-chair of the ICMU, in delivering a speech. He said that new materials are the foundation of the real economy and the basis for supporting the national economy. They are also a key area for winning international competitive advantages. Establishing a scientific and standardized system of norms can help promote the coordinated development of domestic and international standards and support Chinese enterprises in going global. This can promote the green, low-carbon, and sustainable development of the global advanced materials industry.

At the meeting, Ge Guanglu, director of the Standards Working Committee of the International Carbon Materials Union and researcher of the National Nanoscience Center, made a report entitled "The Standard Work Concept of the International Carbon Materials Union", and put forward the specific ideas, problems and solutions for the international standard work in the field of carbon materials.

Liu Wei, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the Beijing Advanced Materials Industry Promotion Association and Secretary General of the International Carbon Materials Union (ICMU), presented a report entitled "Development and Standardization of China's Carbon Materials Industry", introducing the development history and trends of the international carbon materials industry, clarifying the importance of standard formulation, and how to use standards to promote the high-quality development of new productivity and other key issues.

At the forum, the Beijing Advanced Materials Industry Promotion Association signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Beijing Industrial Cooperation Association for the standardized development of advanced materials. Both parties will jointly carry out standardization work in the field of advanced materials, empowering the high-quality development of the materials industry with high standards.

In the future, the Promotion Association will fully leverage its own advantages, collaborate with various forces, and solidly promote the standardization work in the field of advanced materials and the tasks of the International Carbon Materials Union (ICMU) Standards Work Preparatory Committee, contributing to the vigorous development of China's advanced materials industry.
